Obituary of Otto Tubito
Otto Tubito died with his family by his side on December 12, 2018 in Reston, Virginia at the age of 93. He is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Rosemarie and his children Barbara (Tom), Susan (Galen), Paul (Sandra), Joseph (Cassandra), Janet (Tim) and by 12 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by parents Paul and Teresa, his sister Fannie and his brother Frank.
Otto was born on September 4, 1925 and grew up in Westbury, NY. He joined the Army Air Corps in 1944. After the war ended, he returned to Westbury and met and married Rosemarie Kopack. After racing midget cars for two years, he was employed at Sperry, later Unisys, in the mechanic shop and worked up to Systems Engineer, receiving his B.S. from Adelphi University.
After living 31 years in a house they built in East Meadow, Otto and Rosemarie made their home in Reston, Virginia. In their retirement, they traveled around the United States and Europe visiting their children, built a vacation house in the Poconos, and contributed hours of volunteer time to their church, their residence cluster, Sunderbriar, and their community.
A viewing is scheduled at Adams-Green Funeral home in Herndon, VA on Friday December 14, 2018 from 5-8pm. The funeral will be held on Saturday, December 15, 2018 at 11:00am at Saint Thomas a Becket Catholic Church in Reston, Virginia. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Catholic Diocese of Arlington for Catholic Charities.
