Edwin Neugass, III

Obituary of Edwin Archer Neugass, III

Edwin Archer Neugass, III, also known to his family and friends as Ed or Buzz, passed away in Reston, Virginia on January 2, 2019, 11 days prior to his 75th birthday. Born in Connecticut, he lived in New York, Oklahoma, Louisiana and Washington, D.C., before settling down in Northern Virginia.

An optimist to the very last beats of his heart, he relentlessly endeavored to make the world a better place, at times with unconventional ideas. Seemingly unbeknownst to him was that, to those around him, his presence, alone, made it so. He believed in doing the right thing, however difficult or inconvenient.

Edwin was a loving, dedicated, forgiving, and proud father and grandfather. He is affectionately remembered by his daughter as the one who navigated her through highs and lows, and smiles and tears, always without judgment.

His last days were spent surrounded by family and a family friend, including his daughter, Lizette Gutterman, and her husband, Marc; and his grandson, pride and joy, Holden Archer Gutterman.

He is also survived by his daughter, Arabelle Flores; and his brother, Henry (Linda) Neugass.

No funeral services will be held, as Edwin would have preferred for his family and friends to remember him as he was and to honor him by taking a moment to think of the times spent together.  He felt as much (and maybe more) love and fondness for each of you as his heart could contain.

In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made in an alternate form desired by friends.
